Magna Anima Teachers College (Magna Anima) is dedicated to the education, training and formation of public school teachers. With close to a decade and a half of work with public schools, Magna Anima will welcome 200 freshmen in July 2020 as its first batch for its undergraduate degree program.

In 2015, the Division Office of the Quezon City Public Schools (QC-DO) invited Magna Anima to assist them in the opening of four senior high schools (SHS) come June 2016, the start of the universal implementation of the SHS program. This started the partnership between QC-DO, the local government unit of Quezon City (QC-LGU), and Magna Anima. In 2017, four more SHSs were added to the partnership. One of the main goals of this partnership is the development of a model for the setting up of SHSs that can be used by other local government units all over the country. Such a SHS school is called a Partnership School of Excellence (PSE).

This partnership is a turning point in Magna Anima’s work and mission. In late 2016, the decision was made to pivot towards the opening of a Teachers College, seeing the need to educate, train and form a new breed of teachers, especially teachers who will teach in the SHSs or the PSEs, particularly the non-academic tracks where many students in the public school system are enrolled. In August 2017, Magna Anima Teachers College was officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

We are now preparing an enhanced curriculum and developing learning materials and experiences for a pioneering and world class teacher education, training, and formation program. This includes developing more partnerships in other cities and provinces to establish more PSEs, which will be the primary source of students for the Teachers College and the senior high schools where the graduates of the Teachers College will teach.

With these preparations, Magna Anima is finalizing partnerships for scholars for the Teachers College with Quezon City, Malolos City, San Pablo City (the Third District of Laguna), Batangas, and Cavite. We will begin formal discussions with the cities of Valenzuela, Santa Rosa, Biñan and Caloocan, who have all signified the desire to develop a partnership with Magna Anima similar to the QC model.

This 2019 to the middle of 2020 will be a landmark period for Magna Anima and its partners. During this period all preparations for the first 200 students in its teacher education, training and formation program will go full swing. Central to this effort is the start of the recruitment and screening of potential scholars who will be part of the pioneering 200 students.

This April 2019, Magna Anima will start its leadership formation and career care programs for incoming Grade 12 SHS students from which we will recruit potential Teachers College students. This will run for 10 months, at the end of which the 200 students will be chosen.

Aside from LGUs and industry partners, we are inviting other private sector partners to support our scholarship program for our future public school teachers in our PSEs. Through quality and relevant public school education, we will nurture and fulfill the dreams of our Filipino youth who will build our nation. Each scholarship grant given to a student is envisioned to reflect the partnership philosophy of Magna Anima, bringing together the Local Government Units, industry and individual partners working together to bring about the renewal and transformation of our public schools.
